Call for Articles for CCIL Newsletter (Summer Issue)

The Canadian Council on International Law (CCIL) invites you to submit content for the Summer issue of the CCIL Newsletter.

The Newsletter aims to provide Members with information about recent developments and/or interesting topics in international law, update Members on the work of the CCIL, advertise CCIL and other international law-related events, and circulate other items of interest to Members.

The CCIL is looking for submissions in English or in French, including:

  • Articles on a subject, issue or development in international law (250 to 1500 words);
  • Essay or thesis briefs (250-1500) that will be linked to the full document published on the CCIL website;
  • Upcoming events occurring in Summer/Fall that may be of interest to CCIL Members; and
  • Job opportunities in international law.

Deadline for submissions:  May 21, 2013.
Please direct your questions and/or submission to Andrew Lanouette at alanouette@cassidylevy.com.

In the case of articles/briefs, consideration will be given to each submission and you will be contacted if your article is selected for publication. We are accepting submissions from both CCIL members and the public, as a result, please feel free to forward this e-mail to interested parties.

Lawyers Without Border is searching for nine interns 

There is a total of nine internships, eight of which pertain to the legal sector and one to project management and fund raising. These appointments are for a period of six months, starting in June and ending in December 2013. Internship expenses are covered by the project.

Publication of Four Societies Conference Book

As many of you know, the CCIL participates with international law societies from the United States, Japan, and Australia/New Zealand in regular "Four Societies" Conferences.  The book from the latest Four Societies Conference in Japan (International Law in the New Age of Globalization) has just been published, with contributions from a number of CCIL Members.

Annual Jean-Gabriel Castel Conference on International Law and International Organizations

This year the Annual Castel Lecture on International Law and International Organizations will be given at Glendon College of York University, 2275 Bayview  Avenue, Toronto, on March 28, 2013 at 7 p.m.

The feature speaker is Professor François Crépeau, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights of Migrants and  the holder of the Oppenheimer Chair in Public International Law at McGill University. His topic is: Towards a Global Migration Governance Framework -- Vers une gouvernance globale des migrations internationales.
