Call For Abstracts Second International Conference on End of Life Law, Ethics, Policy, and Practice

The Dalhousie Health Law Institute, the Australian Centre for Health Law Research, and the European Research Network on End of Life invite you to submit abstracts for the Second International Conference on End of Life Law, Ethics, Policy, and Practice. The conference will be held in Halifax, Canada from 13-15 September 2017. The conference will consider end of life law, ethics, policy, and practice from a wide range of perspectives and will feature plenaries delivered by experts from around the world. See the full list of plenaries and speakers at the conference website: http://icel2halifax.ca TOPICS: Abstracts are particularly welcomed within the following streams: - Medical assistance in dying (euthanasia and assisted suicide) - Withholding and withdrawing potentially life-sustaining treatment (e.g. the "futile treatment" debate, artificial hydration and nutrition) - Palliative sedation - Advance directives and advance care planning - Next generation issues (e.g. medical assistance in dying in prisons, organ donation and medical assistance in dying) - Other end of life law, ethics, policy, and practice issues This is an interdisciplinary conference and abstracts are encouraged from all disciplines (including, but not limited to, law, medicine, nursing, philosophy, and bioethics). Abstracts are also encouraged from all sectors (including, but not limited to, academic, practice, NGO, and government). PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: - Each abstract should use the provided Abstract submission form (http://icel2halifax.law.dal.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Call-for-Submissions-Fillable-Form-Final.pdf). - All abstracts should be submitted by February 15th, 2017. - Abstracts should be submitted by e-mail to icel2@dal.ca - Receipt of abstracts will be confirmed by email and applicants will be notified of the outcome by March 31, 2017. Presenter registration and expenses: All presenters will be required to register for the conference by April 15, 2017 and pay the conference registration fee. Presenters will also be required to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
