CCIL Annual Conference 2025 - Session Highlight “The Advisory Opinions on the Climate Crisis: Opportunities and Challenges”

Three courts. One planet. A climate emergency.

As the climate emergency intensifies, international law is being called upon to respond. Three international courts—the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR), and the International Court of Justice (ICJ)—issued advisory opinions on climate change.

Join us on November 13, 2025, for a timely and thought-provoking panel moderated by Miriam Cohen (University of Montreal). This session brings together leading voices from practice and academia to explore how these opinions will influence the conduct of States and other actors in confronting the climate crisis.

Do these three advisory opinions prove the resilience of international law in an era of climate emergency?

Early Fee for Delegates ends October 31 at midnight (ET).
