Volunteering at the
CCIL Annual Conference

The Canadian Council on International Law (CCIL) is always seeking help and wishes to support students in gaining experience in the legal field. Volunteer services are especially needed during our Annual Conference. A great networking experience, students from all over Canada apply to participate.

CCIL is seeking applications from undergraduate and graduate law students and articling students to assist in reporting on conference sessions and sparking discussion as CCIL conference Rapporteurs as well as general student volunteers. Please see below for a description of the roles and details on how to apply.
Each Rapporteur and Volunteer will receive complimentary registration for the conference. This complimentary registration does not include access to the Friday evening reception or travel costs.

Rapporteurs
Rapporteurs will have two responsibilities:

Summaries: Each Rapporteur will be assigned approximately three to four conference sessions for which they will be responsible. For each session to which they are assigned, the Rapporteur must write a summary of the conference session of approximately 4-5 pages single spaced. These summaries must be submitted to CCIL by November 30, 2019. Summaries should be well-written in the language of your choice (English or French), proofread, and ready for posting on the CCIL website.

Posting on social media platforms: Rapporteurs will use social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) to share information and photos with conference participants and the broader community during the conference. Rapporteurs will be asked to make at least five posts (e.g. photograph, tweet) on a social media platform during the conference.
Rapporteurs: Application Process
Please provide the following in your application:

Your CV (maximum 2 pages);

Your law school transcript; and

A writing sample (maximum 10 pages, in the language in which you plan to write.)

General Volunteers will be called to assist with the logistics and smooth operation of the conference, assisting with matters such as :

Room monitoring

Photography

Delegate assistance generally
