It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend Maurice Danby Copithorne, Q.C., LLD, who received the John E. Read Medal for his outstanding contribution to international law and human rights throughout his career as professor, Canadian diplomat, Legal Advisor to the Department of External Affairs and UN Special Representative on Human Rights in Iran (1995-2002).
